One of my favorite cakes I've made, this was made for my daughter's basketball banquet.  The basketball is made of cake, the jersey is made of fondant.  The "gym floor" is also created using fondant.  This would make a great graduation cake as well!

And for the football fan, we can add a 3D football made of cake, or a sugardough jersey numbered after their favorite player, or with their name and age on it.  A shaped helmet with their team's design is also a great way to go1
